About the Author

Barbara Gottfried Hollander is the author of several economic and financial books for both Heinemann Raintree Publishers and Rosen Publishing Group. She has been a regular contributor for newspapers and magazines, including NJJN and Kid Zone, for over fifteen years. Currently, Barbara is both the Economics Editor and the Education Editor of the New York Times bestseller, The World Almanac and Book of Facts, and an expert reviewer for Rosen Publisher’s economics and financial literacy series.

Barbara is also a curriculum developer, educational content developer, and assessment reviewer with both Knowledge Learning Corporation and Victory Productions. She develops and writes online Economics, Business, and Mathematics lessons with differentiated instruction, as well as evaluations and interactive texts including tutorials and educational games.

Her books and online courses are written in accordance with state standards in mathematics and benchmarks provided by the Council for Economic Education and adapted from the Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics.

In 2006, Barbara began work as an educational writing consultant. She develops nonfiction and fiction passages for medium/ high readers and modified learners and mathematical questions. Most of her material appears throughout the United States on State Learning Assessments prepared by the Educational Testing Service. Others are part of the New Leaders for New Schools Interim Assessments Initiative.

Barbara is a guest coordinator of classroom workshops and frequently visits schools to engage children in their own reading and writing journeys. She has taught in classrooms and has worked as a private learning consultant, both assessing learning style and teaching course material. Barbara is a strong believer in differentiated instruction and supports the right of all children to learn.

Barbara graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and Summa Cum Laude from New York University’s Graduate Economics Program. She serves on the Rosen Publishing’s Teen Health and Wellness Expert Review Board. She is also a board member of the Literacy Connections Committee that promotes literacy in the special needs school, P.G. Chambers. Barbara lives in Northeast with her husband and their three children.
